Hydraulic and pneumatic systems are used extensively in many industries. From the manufacturing and processing industries like injection molding and food processing to heavy construction machineries like cranes and hoists, and agricultural machineries like harvesters and tractors, hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders are an integral part of these fluid and air powered machineries. Hydraulic cylinders are also found the field of marine and offshore engineering, shipbuilding, aviation and just about every industry we can think of. The proper functioning of hydraulic cylinders depends on rubber seals designed for the retention of hydraulic fluid and the exclusion of foreign contaminants, while maintaining fluid pressure throughout the operation.

Hydraulic and pneumatic seals may look similar in appearance, but they are designed with very specific applications in mind. In the past, low-pressure hydraulic seals were used as substitutes for pneumatic seals, but over time the two have developed in different directions. Before pneumatic seals are installed into the cylinder, lubricants are applied to the seal and the sealing path in order to reduce abrasion and prolong the service life of the seal. The four important criteria in the selection of hydraulic and pneumatic seals are temperature of contact fluid and cylinder, fluid pressure, fluid media and speed of actuation.

GMORS hydraulic and pneumatic seals are made of various elastomers such as TPU, NBR, FKM and HNBR, and the seals are designed to perform to expectations in accordance with user specifications.
